Snowmobile Hall of Fame

We had a guest staying at Black Bear Lodge Resort, who always comes up to snowmobile but never has time to visit the Snowmobile Hall of Fame, ask if it was open in the summer? Yes, the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame, in St. Germain, Wisconsin is open year round to take your family through. It is dedicated to preserving and highlighting the rich and exciting history of snowmobiling at both the recreational and competitive levels. As you might already know, Great Uncle Carl Eliason invented the snowmobile! Discover all the great area activities in the Northwoods.

Looking for a fun event to do with the family while on vacation in the beautiful Northwood's? Try your hand at Canoe, Kayak, Rafting or Tubing from Hawk's Nest Canoe Outfitters. It is a short drive from the Black Bear Lodge, just 8 miles from St. Germain on Hwy 70 East.

50th Wedding Anniversary

Recently we had a Family Reunion staying at the Black Bear Lodge Resort, where the parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary! Everyone had a great time on their vacation, on Little St. Germain Lake, swimming, golfing and exploring the Northwood's. We invite you to celebrate your special event/family reunion with us!

When visiting the Black Bear Lodge in St. Germain, Wisconsin, here are some fun family activities to take in on your vacation: See the "World's Largest Penny" monument, Bond Falls ("best kept secret", Elmer's Fun Park with (horseback ridding, go-carts, and bumper boats), Casinos and the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame.

Pig in the Pines

It's the 6th Annual Pig in the Pines Ribfest - August 5 - 7 th, 11:30am - 9:30pm each day. Discover professional, award-winning, national rib vendors cooking ribs every day in St. Germain, Wisconsin, Community Park. This is a great place to bring the entire family for ribs and roasted corn.

Wildlife facts!

Wildlife facts in the Northwoods': Did you know, the common loon can dive in excess of 200 feet. The double crested cormorant dives as deep as 120 feet, and members of the beaver families can stay under water for 10 to 12 minutes. You can see loons on Little St Germain Lake at the Black Bear Lodge resort in Wisconsin, during spring, summer and fall.

Out of the mouths of Children

One of the children from a family staying here in one of our cottages on Little St. Germain Lake in Wisconsin, came into the resort office today to tell us, "This vacation has been more funner than going to Disney Land!!!" He did everything from fishing, swimming, made S'mores over a campfire, biking, to playing on the private sand beach. He participated in our Children's Activities and even completed the Scavenger Hunt to be rewarded with an ice cream treat from the Bear Necessities Gift Shop.

Musky Fishing

One of our guests caught a 45" Musky yesterday, right off the dock on Little St. Germain Lake.

Picture yourself catching this famous fish, the Wisconsin Musky - the fish of 10,000 casts!

Spring, Fall, or Winter are beautiful in the Northwoods and make a wonderful setting for you wedding. We do intimate weddings in the Bear's Den Restaurant to larger tent weddings. We also have a wedding coordinator to help you with all your plans. Your guests can lodge with us and enjoy all the amenities we have to offer during their stay.

Artarama

Artarama Art Fair is this Sat. July 17, at Riverview Park in Eagle River from 9 am - 3 pm.

It features a fantastic group of artists, all selling their art work. Be sure to put it on your calendar!

Guests at Black Bear Lodge will enjoy an old fashioned Campfire tonight. There will be mouth watering S'mores to enjoy at 8 pm.

Family hosts Ice Cream Social to commemorate Grandmother's 90th Birthday

Her 97 closest relatives came from Florida, Texas, Minnesota, England, Sweden and all around Wisconsin to celebrate her special occasion! Her 8 children transformed our Cub Room into the full-service Lilly's Sweet Shoppe. They decorated and dressed the part to serve the rest of the family every type of ice cream and candy possible...

Independence Day Celebrations in neighboring Eagle River

Blueberries

The Ojibwa word for July is 'minigizis', which means "the month of blueberries" or, more liberally, any berry fruit or seed. Juneberries, blueberries, and raspberries come ripe in July!

We noticed people picking blueberries on the side of the road today, what a great treat!

4th of July Fireworks

Be sure to enjoy our local 4th of July Celebrations in Eagle River, Conover, Minocqua, Boulder Junction, and Sayner/Star Lake area. There will be picnics, fireworks, parades, and water ski shows!
