Color Change in Leaves

Did you know what causes the leaves to change color? Light absorbing, green pigmented chlorophyll masks the other color-producing substances in a leaf during the summer. In the fall, when the trees stop producing chlorophyll, the making effect is eliminated and the yellows and reds that were hidden under the green chlorophyll become visible. Now you know the rest of the story and can share it with family and friends! Lt. St. Germain Lake is beautiful in the fall by boat or land. Take a walk or go on one of our wonderful biking trails in the northwoods and view the colors this fall.

Water Levels

Thanks to recent rain, our water levels have come back up on Little St. Germain Lake in St. Germain, Wisconsin. Families staying at Black Bear Lodge Resort, Cedaroma Lodge and Bayview Resort can enjoy water skiing, fishing, tubing and boating.

Wildlife

We had a deer visit the office today! He walked right up to the front window and looked like he wanted to make a reservation, I'm sure when he realized it was the "Black Bear" Lodge he decided to find a more Deer friendly resort. We love our wildlife, which we see often on the grounds.

Ducks are hiding in the shade under a pier as beautiful weather ushers in the Memorial Day Weekend. Take some time this weekend to remember those who have gone before us, including those who have served our country in the military to protect our freedom and uniquely American way of life!

Cousins take the plunge

We had to share this photo of cousins taking the plunge off the swim raft at our Bayview Resort! This family had loads of fun, evidenced by the many photo contest entries they submitted. That's just a subtle reminder for the rest of you... to get your photos entered into our 2008 contest!

You May Have to Share Your Pier

This morning these ducks were toddling out on the pier at Bayview Resort. While we have not been successful at capturing them in a photograph - ducklings have been spotted at Bayview Resort too today! It's always fun watching ducklings follow the hen whenever and wherever she goes. Guests departing told us that they watched a doe with her fawn walk through the resort several mornings this past week too.
