One More Day till OktoBEARfest!

The vendors are arriving and very excited about this year's OktoBEARfest. They are busy decorating their unit, as you can see from the photo attached. We have several New vendors with wonderful exciting merchandise to purchase. They make great Christmas gift ideas.

OktoBEARfest is located in all the cabins and lodge homes at Black Bear Lodge, right along side Little St. Germain Lake. The German Beer is chilling and the hay wagon is ready for riding, bring the whole family and we will see you at 10am on Sat. for OktoBEARfest!

The Count Down Continues to OktoBEARfest!

OktoBEARfest is just 4 days away and we are busy getting the Black Bear Lodge and Bear's Den Bar & Grill on Little St. Germain Lake ready for the 11th annual OktoBEARfest. Amy Linnett from WRJO radio will be broadcasting live from 9 am to 12 noon, come by and say Hi to Amy. There will be drawings for prizes every hour on the hour. Grand Prize is a 2 night stay at the Black Bear Lodge. We have some "New" vendors this year, to be sure to check out - Lisa Koening's one of a kind soft cloth doll witches, snowmen, and angels, and Penny Engel's hand painted ceramic's and glass, to name a few. OktoBEARfest is on Sat. 10/30, from 10 to 4 pm.

Biggest Oktobearfest ever!

Count down to OktoBEARfest, just 5 days away! This will be the biggest OktoBEARfest ever! Bring the entire family and enjoy a fun fall festival with German music, Brats, kraut fritters, German beer, hay rides, pumpkin painting and of course take care of your Christmas shopping from all the wonderful crafters who will be located in our cabins and lodge homes. Black Bear Lodge is located on Little St. Germain Lake in St. Germain. The Bear's Den will be jumping with the Jim Pekol Band, food and costume contest. A fun day will be had by all, come and join in!

Things to do in the Northwoods

We had a guest tell us today how beautiful it is in the Northwoods, even with the leaves gone! They are having a great time, going to the Casinos, fishing off the shore, walking in the woods, trying different restaurants, shopping and relaxing by the fireplace. This quiet time is a great time to come up, visit and enjoy the lowest rates of the year! The Black Bear Lodge is located on Little St. Germain Lake and lodging accommodations have a beautiful view of the lake.

Looking for a Hunting Cabin in the Northwoods? The Wisconsin Gun-deer season is just around the corner. The Black Bear Lodge, located on Little St. Germain Lake, is close to hunting areas, restaurants, grocery stores, and supplies. You can travel by land or across Lt. St. Germain Lake to hundreds of groomed trails. If you don't have your own sleds, we can help you arrange to rent them close by. After a great day on the trails, snuggle up to a warm fire in one of our cabins or lodge homes. We are the birth place to the snowmobile, thanks to Great Uncle Carl, who invented it, right here in St. Germain!

Zoo Boo

Bring your children in their Halloween Costume, to the Zoo Boo at Wildwood Wildlife Park in Minocqua on 10/16 from 1:30 - 5:30, there will be a parade, treats and more! Your children will love seeing all the baby animals and get to pet them. There is something for the entire family to see and enjoy!

Fish Fry Friday!

It is a tradition in the Northwoods to go out for fish on Friday! The Bear's Den features a great fish fry, which is located right here at the Black Bear Lodge. Many local restaurants also have Friday Fish Fry specials! Bring the family up and enjoy the last of the colors and experience a fantastic fish fry, or catch your own in Lt. St. Germain Lake!

Indian Summer is here!

Wow, what great weather we are having! It is Indian Summer, which is defined by having a hard frost, followed by the temperature being 10 degrees above normal. So if you're looking for a place to go this weekend, bring the family and drive up to the Black Bear Lodge, on Little St. Germain lake.

Enjoy biking, hiking, fishing, walking or driving down a rustic road and look at the fall colors and view our wildlife. One guest saw 3 bear cubs sitting in the road the other day, how great is that!

Time to "Fest"

There are 2 Fests this weekend, Pumpkin Fest in Three Lakes, and Harvest Fest in Boulder Junction. Both are on Sat. October 9th. Black Bear Lodge in St. Germain is located right between the two locations, a perfect place to stay. Catch the beautiful leaves this weekend, they will be at peak! Bring the entire family or make it an escape weekend!

Right here in St. Germain will be an event at Rustic Manor Motor Lodge: Old Fashioned Days, October 9. Resort guests are invited to participate at the nearby hotel in family fun/games, make-your-own caramel apples and take a ride through the colorful northwoods on a horse-drawn wagon. Fall is one of the best times of the year for catching Musky! The Black Bear Lodge has a Fishing Package, which includes a fishing guide, all the gear, boat, lodging and even breakfast and dinner! The Vilas County Musky Tournament runs through 11/30/10, no fee to enter. You just might catch a big o' musky like this one!
